About this course
What you'll study This psychology degree will cover the breadth of this exciting discipline. From the start, you will not only develop your knowledge of core psychological science, but you will also explore specific topics in sport exercise psychology including applications and research. Your exploration will be aided by our academics who are involved in cutting-edge psychology research. Their specialisms cover fascinating and evolving areas, such as athlete personality, addiction and gender-based violence. You will also have opportunities to learn from guest speakers and experts from the field who can share their experiences as practising psychologists. We offer a supportive environment for your studies and you will benefit from an open-door policy, with staff available for academic and pastoral help if you need it. You will also have a personal tutor to work with you throughout your degree. Additionally, we provide work experience and employability opportunities throughout your degree preparing you for your future career path. This type of experiential learning will help you relate your theoretical knowledge to real-world practice. Past students have completed their work experience in a range of settings, including: • Victim support schemes • Drug support schemes • After-school clubs • Market research You will also have access to our dedicated lab spaces and specialised equipment and software that will bring your learning to life. You will use our computer labs for small group teaching and gain practical research skills including: • Experiment building software • BIOPACS • Observation labs • Eye-tracking units with biofeedback integration capability • Virtual Reality • Electroencephalography (EEG) • Cognitive ability tests Once you complete this course, which can be studied on a full or part-time basis, you can apply for Chartered Membership of the BPS on a Graduate basis. This can open up further opportunities for advanced studies in any area of psychology or further specialising in Sport and Exercise Psychology. This course is currently under review for accreditation with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
