About this course
This foundation course is designed for applicants who do not meet the admissions criteria for the BSc Sport and Exercise Psychology (Honors) degree. You’ll start by completing a foundation year, which provides well-structured support. Following successful completion of the foundation year, you will progress with confidence to the first year of the BSc Sport and Exercise Psychology degree.
This course is accredited with British Psychological Society (BSP) and offers students the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of psychology and in particular its application to sport, performance and exercise contexts. Through teaching and independent research, students will gain knowledge and skills related to pursuing a career as a psychologist specialising in sport and supporting athlete performance, health and wellbeing. The course develops a strong scientific understanding of the mind, brain, behaviour and experience and the complex interactions between these elements. A key aspect of this course is the opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience. Students will have the opportunity to gain sport and exercise psychology experience on campus and will also have access to a range of exciting opportunities, including completion of specialist short courses, professional certificates and work placements.
