About this course

This course aims to enable you to develop your knowledge, skills and values and demonstrate your professional capability. You will be provided with frequent opportunities to explore issues that arise in learning about social work regarding children and adults in small discussion groups and action learning sets with other students.

We offer high quality practice placements supported by the Cheshire & Merseyside Social Work Teaching Partnership (CMSWTP), which comprises four higher education institutions, eight local authorities, three NHS trusts and a voluntary sector organisation covering Liverpool City Region, West Lancashire, Warrington, Cheshire West and Chester.

You will study and prepare yourself for a professional career with a supportive and qualified core staff team. As well as excellent learning resources and student support and guidance provision at the University, staff on the course have a wide range of specialisms and expertise. Experienced practice educators and assessors are committed to your personal and professional development. You will also benefit from input from people with experience of social care/work services.

Foundation Year courses have been designed for students who do not have the necessary academic qualifications needed to enter directly into the first year of a degree but who have the ability and commitment to do so. Teaching of this Foundation Year will be at our Warrington campus. Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year, you will be able to progress onto the BA Social Work programme at our Warrington campus.
