About this course

The FdSc Rehabilitation and Manual Therapies course provides students with the knowledge, understanding and skills to assess, manage and treat a neuromusculoskeletal problems through evidence-based rehabilitation and manual therapy techniques. During the two-year full time course students will explore human osteology (bones), myology (muscles), arthrology (ligaments and joints), be introduced to basic and advanced sports assessment and massage techniques, and develop a fundamental understanding of exercise prescription for the non-injured and injured athlete.

The FdSc Rehabilitation and Manual Therapies course provides students, who would otherwise have not been accepted on the BSc Sport Therapy degree or other degree programs, the opportunity to access these courses. This course is suitable for students who have recently completed their A-levels or BTEC qualifications and want to pursue a career in sport, and those who have been in industry for a period of time and are looking to upskill or change careers (inc. personal trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, sports coaches etc). After the successful completion of the two year FdSc Rehabilitation and Manual therapies course, students who meet the pre-requisites will be offered a place on our BSc Sport Therapy Top Up (or other BSc top up courses).

We are the only UK University sports course with a dedicated telehealth hub to future proof students and enhance employability. Students will not only be taught how to assess, manage and treat a variety of neuromusculoskeletal problems but they will be taught how this can be achieved virtually using the latest technology.

On completion of this Foundation Degree, students could progress on to the final year of our BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy.
