Course summary
This postgraduate course equips learners to:

- Assess and apply the key theories of project management, including looking at the discipline in an international setting in a fast growing profession.

- Apply practical authentic real-world knowledge by working with clients and/or client briefs.

- Critically analyse literature, theory and global issues in project management.

- Develop academic and practical employment skills suitable for project managers in industry.

- Explore topics with focus on themes such as, cross-cultural management, sustainability and ethical decision making.

The MSc Project Management (Work Experience) course allows students to gain a global perspective in contemporary project management. It empowers students to think critically, navigate group working, strategise and tackle challenges by using innovative problem-solving skills.

The course also includes a work experience opportunity with a 12-month placement.

Key themes

The MSc Project Management course is structured to provide an in-depth look at all the main elements of project management. This includes topics such as the project life-cycle, governance, procurement, risk management, project evaluation, HR management, leadership, managing stakeholders, communication strategies and tools, contract negotiation and management, financial control and budgets, data analytics and quality assurance.

Tutors use a variety of teaching methods and a variety of assessment formats, such as traditional assignments, presentations and extended projects. There is a focus on formative learning, with students encouraged to discuss their learning and assessments with tutors and peers. There is also use of digitally enhanced learning.
