About this course

Why Primary Education: 3-7 Foundation/Keystage 1? Rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in their latest review (2015), our Primary Education (ages 3–7) degree prepares you for a successful teaching career. You’ll not only graduate as a qualified teacher, but will build the specialist skills needed to progress as an outstanding subject leader in the area you’re passionate about. Covering both the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 National Curriculum, you’ll specialise in two subjects: a core (English, maths or science) and a foundation such as history or art. With opportunities to gain work experience through our network of over 400 schools, in educational environments including big city academies, village schools and special educational needs settings, our graduates stand out from the competition.

You’ll draw on the specialist subject expertise of our lecturers and the exceptional teachers you’ll work alongside on placements, with a large proportion of our partner schools being graded ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. You’ll be supported by experienced educators, while optional subject modules and continuing professional development opportunities will also help you tailor your study to your own particular interests and aspirations. This course also scored 92% for academic support in the National Student Survey 2024.
