About this course

Not just quiet contemplation – philosophy has great practical value. You study philosophy and law together in order to appreciate the relationships between them with a degree of critical awareness. Moral, political and legal philosophy have implications for law, and philosophers can learn from lawyers too in various ways. Our course offers plenty of opportunity to study, not only what the law is, but also what the law ought to be.

You also have the opportunity to take part in a number of extracurricular activities to build on your credentials for future employment. Volunteer at our Law Clinic offering legal advice to real clients, participate in mooting competitions, test your skills in client interviewing competitions, join our law, human rights and bar societies and take advantage of networking opportunities with visiting law firms.

You spend your third year on a placement gaining relevant work experience within an external business or organisation, giving you a competitive edge in the graduate job market and providing you with key contacts within the industry.
