About this course

Reasons to choose Kingston

  • The Pharmacy with Preparatory year is an extended degree programme, tailored to our accredited Pharmacy course at Level 4.

  • The course is ideal if you have non-traditional or unrelated qualifications or experience, are returning to education or would like some support to prepare for a degree.

  • Our pharmacy department’s new GP simulation suite and simulated hospital ward with life-like manikins will provide you with the most up-to-date teaching to equip you for your future role as prescribing pharmacists.

  • Our commitment to high quality teaching has been recognised with a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold rating. The University has received an overall rating of Gold, as well as securing a Gold award in the framework's two new student experience and student outcomes categories.

About this course This course introduces you to pharmacy as a science-based healthcare professional.

The preparatory year is designed so that you’ll not only have a solid theoretical understanding in each of the subject areas, but gain good grounding in practical skills and help you feel confident to progress to more demanding aspects of the MPharm degree course.

Success in your foundation year means you’ll be able to progress to the MPharm degree course. You’ll need an average of 70% in the foundation year science modules (with at least 70% in chemistry).

Future Skills Embedded within every course curriculum and throughout the whole Kingston experience, Future Skills will play a role in shaping you to become a future-proof graduate, providing you with the skills most valued by employers such as problem-solving, digital competency, and adaptability.

As you progress through your degree, you'll learn to navigate, explore and apply these graduate skills, learning to demonstrate and articulate to employers how future skills give you the edge.

At Kingston University, we're not just keeping up with change, we're creating it.

Career opportunities You’ll be able to progress to Year 1 of the MPharm course if you meet the above requirements. If you pass the course but don’t meet the requirements for pharmacy, you may progress to other science-based degree courses.
