PGCE Secondary Spanish with QTS*

Manchester Metropolitan University
Postgraduate PGCE Full-time 1 Year LanguagesTeaching

About this course

Our one-year Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) prepares you to teach across the secondary school Spanish curriculum for the 11-16 age range. You’ll learn how to teach your main language, Spanish, for the 11-16 age range, and you may also develop a second language, subject to your own subject knowledge and qualifications.

At university, you will be studying in the Spanish group and in the MFL group. We’ll teach you in your target language to provide an opportunity for you to practise and develop your language.

You’ll consider how to plan lessons, reflect on your planning, learn how research can develop your teaching practice, and look at ways to develop your teacher persona.

On your placements, you will be teaching Spanish. There may also be opportunities to develop a second language, subject-to-subject knowledge.

We also welcome speakers of heritage and other languages, and we do our utmost to enable speakers of additional languages to have an opportunity to teach these on placement too. Past students have contributed to Urdu, Italian, Japanese and Somali teaching – and we are very keen to keep extending the range of languages.
