Why study this course? 1. The curriculum has been designed to reflect the dynamic role of a Paramedic 2. We work with a number of clinical partners to give you essential practical experience on a range of clinical placements. 5. You will benefit from our new clinical skills suite including a state-of-the-art immersive lab. 6. Our Paramedic Science programme is subject to accreditation by the Health and Care Professions Council What does the course cover? You will study a range of modules including Anatomy and Physiology in Health and Disease, Interprofessional and Collaborative Practice and Evidence Based Healthcare. Modules covering clinical skills and specialist areas of practice including Trauma and Mental Health combine to cover all the components required to be eligible for registration as a paramedic. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed throughout the duration of the programme using a range of methods which will vary depending upon the module. Assessment methods may include: Objective Structured Clinical Skills Exams (OSCEs) Written assignments such as essays and case studies Exams (multiple choice, short/long answer) Portfolio completion Poster presentations Group work What careers could I consider? On successful completion of this course you will be eligible to apply for registration with the HCPC as a Paramedic*. You may choose to work in the NHS as part of an ambulance crew or in one of the many emerging roles such as a in a minor injuries unit or GP surgery.
Career options are also available outside of the NHS such as in the off-shore industry, remote medicine or the armed forces.
