Nursing (Mental Health) [Pre-registration]

This mental health nursing degree aims to produce excellent nurses who are fit for practice and able to meet the key needs of all patient groups. You will experience an academic and professional training environment conceived and structured to help you gain the knowledge, understanding and skills to pursue and sustain a career in contemporary nursing practice. The approach centres around learning with service users and carers at the heart of the delivery of the course. The mental health field of practice modules are further informed by critical engagement with current mental health agendas and developments, ensuring you qualify with a robust mental health nursing degree. This is a three-year, full-time degree consisting of field of practice, generic and practice learning modules. These start at Level 4 through to Level 6.

Practice Learning Experiences The programme consists of six practice learning experiences, ensuring that you maximise your learning opportunities. Practice learning will help with the acquisition of skills required to achieve competence within the adult nursing field of practice. We also ensure there is equal weighting for learning in practice and academic theory in accordance with the NMC guidelines. There are six mandatory practice learning modules, two small ones in year one, two medium ones in year two and two large ones one in year three, equating to 50% of the credit each year.
