About this course

At York St John University we take a whole person approach to nursing, seeing human beings as whole systems inseparable from their environment. We consider the biological, psychological, sociological, and spiritual aspects of individuals and their capacity for health and healing. This course combines theoretical study with extensive practice placements to fully prepare you for your career in adult nursing. Work-based placements will make up half of your time on this course, and you will have the chance to work with people of varied ages and backgrounds in urban, rural and coastal communities across the region. Our wide range of community placements include GP practices, residential care homes and hospitals.

In your university-based learning, small class sizes mean you will benefit from individual support from our highly experienced team. You will also benefit from learning alongside students from related subjects such as Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Biomedical Science, offering opportunities to expand your understanding further.
