About this course
Your course will start with exploring the role of the nurse in contemporary healthcare and the fundamentals of compassionate person-centred nursing practice. Throughout the first year you will study with nursing students from the other fields of nursing, taking part in simulated practice learning and undertake clinical practice placements. Years two and three will focus on your chosen field and will ensure you become a professional and competent newly qualified nurse.
From day one, you'll be immersed in nursing practice and supported by academics and professionals with vast experience. Practice placements and simulation will be an integral part of your experience, and you will be supported by a range of academic staff passionate about nursing. You will be learning in state-of-the-art simulation facilities and using the latest virtual reality technology to practice nursing in a safe and supportive environment.
From working with experts by experience with mental health to working in acute care, our Adult Nursing degree will prepare you for a challenging, yet the most rewarding, career. What’s more, you'll gain essential work experience whilst studying adult nursing at university, enhancing your skills and employability upon graduation.
Professional accreditation
On completion of the course, you will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Adult Nurse. Our newly approved course meets the NMC 2023 standards.
Specialist facilities
As a healthcare student, you will have access to our specialist, industry-relevant, simulation facilities at Canterbury and Medway campuses. These simulation suites allow you to practise hands-on skills in a fully-equipped, realistic hospital environment.

Canterbury
Canterbury is just 50 miles south-east of London and less than an hour by high-speed train from St Pancras. Located on a UNESCO World Heritage Site the campus offers state-of-the-art buildings, right in the centre of a vibrant and world-famous cathedral city. You’ll benefit from a campus with excellent learning and teaching resources, music venues, a superb sports centre, a well-stocked bookshop and plenty of coffee bars and places to eat. A short walk away is Augustine House our award-winning library and home to a vast range of learning resources and student support teams.
Medway
Our Medway Campus is located near to The Historic Dockyard Chatham in Kent. Rochester is also close by with its beautiful cathedral and buzzing high street. The campus has a unique atmosphere, with its long-standing reputation for excellence in Health and Social Care, Education and the Early Years. Nearby is a student-friendly quarter with a multiplex cinema, a shopping centre and a fully equipped sports centre. The campus is part of Universities at Medway, which is made up of three universities: CCCU, the University of Kent and the University of Greenwich, so you’ll be part of a vibrant student campus with plenty of facilities.
