About this course

This interdisciplinary programme introduces students to the cultures and societies of Africa, Asia and the Middle East through their languages, literatures and screen culture. Students will choose to specialise in one particular region through their languages and module choices, with an optional Year Abroad at one of our partner universities. Combined with Music, students will study the musical traditions of Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and their global diasporas. Students are taught the basic principles of ethnomusicology and encouraged to focus on the music of specific regions. Performance is also a central component of the degree.
