About this course
The BTEC Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Music is a vocational Higher Education course delivered at Islington Music Workshop, and designed to prepare you for a career in music through a combination of theoretical and practical teaching
How is the course assessed? Coursework and continual assessment, there are no external exams although you may sometimes have in class tests.
Where does it lead? The HNC/D is a nationally and internationally recognised qualification. It provides a basic grounding in the core areas of music performance and production and leads to new employment opportunities, career enhancement, and promotion prospects. The HNC/D gives automatic subject exemption from many professional qualifications.
Holders of the BTEC HNC/D in Music can study for one additional top-up year at various UK universities to gain a music degree (e.g. BA (Hons) in Music).

Duration This course comprises of 54 study weeks (2 x 27)
HNC runs from January to July. HND runs from Sept to May. Progression to HND will depend on completion of HNC.
