About this course

Overview Prepare to excel in business on a global stage by combining language studies with a management course. You’ll become fluent in your chosen language, and in the societies and cultures where that language is spoken. You’ll also develop your understanding of global business, marketing, and intercultural communication.

You’ll study French, Spanish or Japanese to degree level, as well as choosing from a range of specialist modules in business, marketing, management and intercultural communication. You can also take another language, such as Arabic, BSL, Chinese or German, subject to availability. Combining management studies with a modern language degree opens up a wealth of opportunities in sectors with global interests and multilingual and multicultural workforces.

Our language lab provides access to cutting-edge translation and interpreting technologies, and we offer a huge range of activities for you to get involved in! Recent examples include our Love Languages Day, Japanese cultural events and LCS Ciné Club.

In your third year, you'll enhance your experience of your chosen language and culture by living in a country where your degree language is spoken. You can study at university (all languages) or work on a teaching assistantship or placement (French and Spanish only). We have partnerships all over the world, including in France, Spain and Japan, as well as in Canada and Latin America.

Our BA Modern Language with Management Studies graduates move on to a wide variety of careers, including in business and marketing, the language services and media industries, and teaching. We're immensely proud of our language graduate success stories!
