About this course

This is a four year programme that will allow you to qualify in two fields of nursing. Your first field will be adult nursing; your second will be children's nursing.

The adult nursing field cares for people over the age of 18 who are ill, recovering from illness or accident, or adapting to life-changing disabilities and long-term conditions. You will learn how to provide person centred care to adults meeting the needs of individuals through acute and long-term illness with both physical and mental health conditions, promote their health and wellbeing, communicate effectively with professional colleagues, and provide sensitive support for the individual and their families.

Children’s nursing specialises in caring for children, young people and their families in a variety of settings, as part of an interprofessional approach to care. The work of a children’s nurse can range from caring for a sick newborn baby to caring for a teenager with complex physical or psychological needs. The course will empower you to become a flexible practitioner; clinically adept, caring and willing to accept responsibility for the care of children, young people and their families.
