About this course

Course Overview

This course will prepare you to be a confident and competent midwife, effectively supporting women, birthing people and their families through pregnancy, birth and beyond.

Midwifery is about providing care to women, birthing people and families at one of the most important times of their lives. A midwife is usually the first and main contact for the family during pregnancy, throughout labour and in the period following the birth of the baby. As a qualified midwife, you’ll be responsible for providing care and supporting women and birthing people to make informed choices about their care.

You’ll benefit from a case-based approach to learning, where you will learn how to adapt your specialist knowledge to each individual circumstances and wishes, resulting in a more positive experience. At the end of this degree programme, which is divided between academic study and clinical practical, you will be professionally registered as a midwife.

You’ll spend 50% of your time in theory and 50% of your time in clinical practice, allowing you to put theory into practice, within a safe and welcoming environment. Throughout your learning journey you’ll be supported by lecturers and clinical midwives.
