About this course
The PgCert in Middle Leadership & Management in Schools is designed for middle leaders who want to enhance and develop their practice, and experienced teachers who would like to progress to a leadership role. It will equip you with a critical understanding of the principles underpinning leadership and management, with a particular focus on leadership at the middle level in schools in posts such as Principal Teacher, Faculty Head or Department Head.If you are a Principal Teacher or Faculty Head, or an experienced teacher who aims to progress into a leadership role in a school, this programme is designed to develop your leadership knowledge, understanding and skills. It uses practice-focused learning to develop your capability to lead teaching and learning within your context. There is a focus on collaborative learning, drawing on your own experiences and those of your academic colleagues. Our academic staff play a leading role in the area of professional learning and leadership development in Scotland and beyond. They have been involved in a range of research projects on headteacher recruitment, teacher leadership, coaching and leadership development, teachers’ work and collaborative professional enquiries.
WHY THIS PROGRAMME
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE You will take two core courses. Each course includes one day of on-campus day school, live online teaching, weekly guided learning tasks and an assignment in which you will draw from your learning throughout the course and from your work in school.
