About this course
Will you inspire and train the medics and healthcare professionals of the future? Our PGCert, PGDip and MSc in Medical Education introduce the principles of teaching, learning and assessing others. Modules are studied through online learning (distance learning) which includes live online teaching, seminar sessions, self-directed tasks and tutorial support.This programme is available as an online distance learning course, which provides high quality learning and teaching combined with flexible asynchronous study. Designed for healthcare professionals who are responsible for teaching, assessing and supporting students and trainees, both in educational institutions and in the workplace, the course will enhance your confidence and skills in medical education. It offers a mix of theoretical and practical skills that build from basic to advanced levels. The emphasis will be on effective evidence-based education for practitioners who are committed to the provision of high-quality learning opportunities for their students and colleagues. It focuses on developing competent, reflective, yet critical practitioners who, through study, practice and research, can contribute effectively to medical education in their healthcare context. Our students include educators from a range of healthcare disciplines eg medicine, dentistry, nursing and paramedicine. You will study with peers from across the healthcare sector, exploring ways of developing and delivering effective medical education, addressing challenges and investigating different approaches. Our e-learning programme equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to build on their current educator experiences and explicitly enables use of these experiences within module assessments. You can tailor your studies at PG Cert and Diploma level, and your research at MSc, to suit your healthcare context, educator role and career aspirations using our wide range of option modules. AoME AccreditationPlus course: On completion of our PGCert, PGDip or MSc courses you will be able to apply directly for membership of the Academy of Medical Educators.
