About this course

This is a two-year part-time programme, in which a Higher National Certificate (HTQ) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering is completed. With a career in Electrical Engineering as your chosen route, this level 4 course offers students wishing to follow this pathway, both the higher level knowledge, theoretical aspects of mechanical science and design and also the understanding of how this is applied in industry.

This qualification will suit students wishing to apply for higher technical level employment with a view to moving into engineering management posts.

On completion of this accredited course you will receive a Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Mechatronic awarded by Pearsons.

On successful completion of the HNC (HTQ) course, you may continue to the level 5 HND (HTQ). Once you have achieved the HND, you will be able to apply to study for a further year to obtain a full degree at university. This qualification is well regarded throughout the industry and the academic world. Career opportunities include managerial and technical positions in mechanical or electrical engineering

All lecturers teaching this course hold a PCGE or equivalent qualification in education and have their Level 6 qualification in Mechatronics. The lecturers at Tameside College in the engineering department hold at least 5 years of relevant industrial experience.
