Mechanical Engineering (with Industrial Placement)

Using project-based learning, you’ll be a trainee engineer from the start. You’ll plan, build and test prototypes in response to a range of stimulating briefs. And you can build on your knowledge and skills with our range of extracurricular options.

Gain real-world experience before you graduate with a placement year. The Humber is home to over 350 engineering and process companies, so you’ll be in a prime spot to access a range of placement opportunities.

Like all our Engineering courses, Mechanical Engineering shares a common first year, which means you can choose to switch to a different pathway in your second year. It also offers a four-year Integrated Masters (MEng) option. This lets you study a year at postgraduate level on top of your degree.

Thanks to our accreditations, you’ll be well on your way to becoming an Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer when you graduate. We’re in the process of becoming accredited by the Women in Engineering Society too.

Previous Hull graduates have secured roles with BAE Systems, British Energy, Williams F1 and Rolls Royce.
