    WHY STUDY THIS COURSE?

This exciting degree combines your enthusiasm for esports and gaming with the contemporary academic subject of media, allowing you to learn through the lens of your passion. Your modules have been carefully selected to create an enjoyable and engaging journey as well as challenging for you as a student. This blend will provide a strong foundation in all that is media within the context of esports and ensure that you will be able to apply your knowledge through work experience within the industry from an early stage.

In the first year, the ‘Social Media Management’ and ‘Communication Technologies’ modules can be put into practice through a range of opportunities with our external partners. Moreover, the ‘Understanding Digital Media & Analytics’ module allows you to quantify the outcomes of your skills and capabilities, providing key metrics for your personal portfolio.

Supported by the ‘Entrepreneurship in Esports’ module, you will be encouraged to work upon your own business ideas with our support. Importantly, the ability to apply your knowledge into the esports industry from your first year will help to create a strong personal portfolio of evidence and track record of your work and achievements.

As you progress into your second year, academic areas such as ‘Digital Psychology in Esports’ and ‘Esports Online Safety & Duty of Care’ work perfectly with the more traditional subjects, such as ‘Content Creation’ and ‘Media Crisis Management’ to further enhance your understanding.

Your highly interactive ‘Media Crisis Management’ module will ensure your own digital footprint, and that of your organisation, is correctly managed. This module complements well with ‘Esports & Social Enterprises’, plus your learnings from year one to be able to further stretch your options and opportunities to work and engage.

In your final year, the subject of ‘Strategic Communications’ will ensure that you understand how to put your knowledge to date into practice – with the ‘Media Law & Intellectual Property’ module providing you the confidence of protecting your online value.
