    On this course you’ll gain practical knowledge of business management, enterprise information systems, IT infrastructure management, business architecture and data analytics. You’ll develop core competencies such as project management, service management, content management and designing business enterprise.

    This course offers a diverse approach towards teaching. You’ll develop your knowledge through classroom experiences, the Hallam community and learning from IT and business experts – as well as working with regional clients from both profit and non-profit organisations.

    You’ll start your journey by studying both information technology and business management concepts – along with foundations of information analysis. These elements are integrated together with an understanding of customers and markets. You’ll then develop your knowledge by analysing business services and developing business cases and solutions in WordPress and Visio.

    In your final year, you’ll apply and develop your knowledge further by working with clients to design and deliver business and service solutions. You’ll also critically analyse and evaluate business data, exploiting enterprise architectures and development of business strategy.

    You’ll have the opportunity to complete a year-long work placement between your second and third year. A placement is widely recognised as the gold standard opportunity to gain personal and professional development through real-world experience.

    You will be encouraged to take up this opportunity, as it will benefit your long-term career prospects and salary level, as well as your academic achievements and degree classification. Your course will prepare you to succeed in your placement and you will be supported throughout it.

    Your placement will allow you to apply the knowledge and skills gained on your course, in areas such as business management, IT and project management.

    Live projects

    During your second year, you’ll undertake client projects to learn from and network with practitioners and experts. Some of the business cases students have developed include improving the energy efficiency of facilities using IoT devices, creating digital marketing channels for climate change awareness, and a mobile app for student mental health support.
