Our Human Anatomy BSc will prepare you to become a skilled anatomist who has the expertise to succeed in diverse career opportunities in clinical, laboratory, educational or surgical device roles. You will build a strong foundation in practical experience and theoretical knowledge, enabling you to advance to specialised topics as you progress on the programme.

    You’ll have the opportunity to learn in a centre of anatomical excellence with access to Keele’s Anatomy and Surgical Training Centre (KASTC), giving you amazing insights into clinically applied anatomy and the opportunity to learn from highly experienced anatomy academics.

    To ensure you have extensive skills and a thorough understanding of human anatomy you will study the human body’s intricate systems and examine anatomical structures and their functions. You’ll evaluate the history of anatomy and how it has evolved, and investigate how the study of anatomy is built on rigorous scientific techniques.

    Gain hands-on experience with human cadavers in practical classes on each year of the programme, enhancing your anatomical knowledge at both the cellular and whole-body levels while developing essential dissection skills.

    You’ll investigate the intricacies of microanatomy while gaining hands-on experience in techniques such as specimen preparation. Study the human nervous system to understand its control by the brain, analyse how humans see, smell, hear, and taste, and examine the key embryological processes that drive human development.

    We’ll support your growth as an effective anatomy educator with modules exploring best practices, teaching you how to prepare and deliver teaching sessions for diverse audiences and encouraging innovative thinking to create unique resources for anatomy education. Your final year research project will refine your research and critical analysis skills, integrating the practical and theoretical knowledge you’ve learnt on the programme.
