History (Secondary PGCE - Graduates only)

Our PGCE Secondary History pathway offers excellent Initial Teacher Education (ITE), providing a route to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

This programme combines university-led training with school-led training, focusing on effective teaching methods and curriculum knowledge. Develop your skills in pedagogy and reflective practice through innovative sessions and hands-on experience.

Teaching covers secondary year groups, including GCSE and A-Level, ensuring a thorough understanding of history education. Experience diverse teaching environments through urban and rural placements, including Welsh-medium schools. Professional teaching experience (PTE) and mentor support are key components, guiding your development.

The programme emphasizes the importance of history in helping young people become ambitious, creative, and ethical citizens. Financial support is available through bursaries and scholarships.
