About this course
We have collaborated with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) to create an exciting programme of study in Fire Scene Investigation which will see you investigate the cause and origin of fires, using multi-disciplinary science and research methodology.For your dissertation you’ll get to study an area of fire science that interests you, taking responsibility for designing, conducting, analysing and interpreting the results of a substantial investigation that’ll also be contributing to the discipline. You’ll gain valuable work experience with an opportunity to undertake a professional placement as part of your MSc, or choose an industry-based project. Accredited by the Energy Institute (EI). Benefit from our new £35m Engineering Innovation Centre, including purpose-built fire laboratories, supported by state-of-the-art computational fluid dynamics facilities, analytical and material characterisation facilities for fire chemistry and fire safety engineering. You’ll have unique access to Washington Hall, the UK’s international fire, training and development centre.
