About this course
This practical course provides students with an industry-relevant offering that includes a critical understanding of applied film theory, with current industry insight and practice in film production, and the creative and technical skills to function effectively in film, television and associated sectors such as music videos, advertising and short form content.
To ensure this professionalism is embedded in the curriculum the film school acts as a production house and the tutor as an executive producer to support the collaborative film production that begins in the first year and is realised in the graduation films in the student's final year. MetFilm School is uniquely positioned amongst other higher education institutions in that students receive budgets to fund their projects throughout the course, supporting the development of high quality films through professional actors, hiring of locations and art direction.
As film production is continuously evolving, MetFilm School is constantly adapting to support the industry’s demands. The course’s intensive curriculum will challenge students to develop their skills and prepare them for the production world of today. Students will gain experience shooting projects on the newest developments in HD, film and digital equipment - from Arri Alexa to Red Raven - as well as classic film cameras like Panavision and Arriflex on super 16mm and 35mm film.

Alongside the course and curriculum, students benefit from over 200 connections across the UK meaning our students gain the skills, experience, contacts and confidence to thrive in the film industry through work experience, internships and paid freelance work.
All students will graduate with a professional portfolio of work, which will serve as a calling card for their skills. Students also gain an understanding of how to navigate the film industry which will support the technical and creative film craft skills that will be acquired.
