About this course

Do you want to apply your marketing and business skills to the fashion industry? Are you fascinated to learn how fashion products are developed and branded? Solent University's fashion management and marketing programme will help to equip you with the strategic marketing skills and fashion industry awareness required to pursue a commercial career.

You’ll study the complete range of professional disciplines within fashion, from retailing, store management and operations to consumer behaviour, fashion buying and merchandising. You'll also have opportunities to gain practical, hands-on experience, leaving you well-prepared for a range of graduate roles.

The course places a strong emphasis on gaining practical skills and work experience. Past students have had the opportunity to set up their own business at our stunning student-run store, Re:So, which sells a unique mix of fashion, accessories, publications, furniture and art.

Throughout the course you will also have the opportunity to go on a range of trips to gain valuable industry insight. Recent trips have included visiting Primark’s largest store in Birmingham and having a guided tour of operations, visiting TM Lewin’s head office and engaging in live projects for Fat Face.

Opportunity to gain practical work experience through the University’s own store, Re:So.

What does this course lead to? Recent graduates have gone on to roles in fashion management, buying and forecasting, marketing and strategic communications, such as marketing manager, marketing assistant and visual merchandiser. Graduates have gained roles at companies including Selfridges, Michael Kors, ASOS and Reiss.

Who is this course for? Candidates should be passionate about fashion and popular trends, but do not necessarily require any prior academic or industry experience. Graduates will be well prepared for careers in marketing, PR, merchandising, buying, retail and project management.
