About this course

This unique Master of Research (MRes) degree in Equestrian Science provides the ideal opportunity for you to develop your expertise in your preferred equestrian-focused research area, whilst contributing to new industry knowledge through a significant piece of academic research.

You could design your research to support you in your existing career or link it to an aspect of the equine industry into which you would like to progress. We can support you to develop a valuable research focus, if required.

Our Equestrian Performance Research Arena is fast developing its reputation for world-leading research. You’ll be supported to design and conduct your research by academically and industry-experienced lecturers and professors.

You’ll benefit from world-class research facilities on campus, including our commercial equine and rider performance centres, training arenas, scientific laboratories, as well as our livery centre with over 230 horses and riders at different levels, from Olympic and Paralympic athletes to novice riders. You may choose to focus your research on one of these contexts, or in an external location, relevant to your project.

Delivery is flexible and often at weekends to fit around your work or other commitments. Your research project can be developed in your own time to fit around your other commitments.
