About this course

There has never been a more urgent need to study the environment. Become a next-generation geographer with our BSc (Hons) Environmental Geography with Professional Experience degree.

Combining the investigative approach of geography with the applied skills of environmental management, our BSc Environmental Geography with Professional Experience degree offers a unique pathway - and the opportunity to gain the skills needed to address the significant environmental challenges faced by society today.

Gain in-demand environmental knowledge, skills and experience Delivered over three years, including an integrated industry placement, this fascinating course will help you to advance both your geography and environmental management knowledge and skills. During your studies, you will look at the effects of climate change, and build knowledge of earth surface processes, geographical information systems, sustainability and environmental management.

Fieldwork is a key element of this course, and trips are aligned with modules so you develop applied skills and gain practical experience. Recent trips have included residential courses across the UK, in places on our doorstep such as the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, as well as further afield at international locations, such as Scandinavia and Barcelona. Small group teaching is another key course benefit, and there are strong links between course content and research projects led by our Ecosystems and Environment Research Centre.

Get closer to industry A unique course feature is the integrated industry placement during your second year. After completing taught modules during trimester one, you will move to complete a placement in industry during trimesters two and three. Working with a key industrial partner or organisation of your choice, this hands-on learning experience provides an excellent opportunity to put geographical and environmental theory into practice.

Features • Build a hybrid skill set grounded in geography and environmental management • Develop valuable professional experience with an industry placement in your second year • Take part in a range of UK and international field trips • Experience small group teaching
