About this course

Our Environmental Geography degree integrates physical geography and human geography perspectives on the natural environment, encompassing topics such as ecosystems and biogeography, sustainability and global environmental challenges, nature conservation and habitat management. Fieldwork and ‘real world’ learning are at its core and we make the most of the city of York and its surrounding region, taking you to places such as the North York Moors, the Yorkshire Wolds or the Yorkshire Coast.

If you are interested in the natural world, environmental issues, sustainability, environmental management and nature conservation, the Environmental Geography degree is the course for you. It will take you from researching natural systems and how they function, to developing environmental hazard management plans, to thinking about your own environmental values and communicating to the world why the natural environmental is important. Fieldwork is at the heart of what we do: come and join in!
