The English with Film Studies BA at King's allows you to study in the heart of London and engage with both its literary and visual history.
You will have the chance to explore a variety of exciting topics, with English modules covering global English literatures from the medieval to the contemporary, alongside Film Studies modules which will provide you with a detailed knowledge of the creative potential of film, and the relationship between film and the societies it portrays.We are one of the oldest English departments in the country, with an international reputation for the quality of our teaching and research Our Central London location offers opportunities to work with Shakespeare's Globe as well as an exciting range of other sites and archives. Our location also offers exciting possibilities for further access to film, most notably King’s close proximity to the British Film Institute Library, and the new BFI Southbank. Ours is a department committed to teaching English literatures of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries written in America, Anglophone Africa, Australia, Ireland and South Asia as well as within the UK Consistently one of the best departments for the study of film in the UK, and currently ranked as the 1st department of Film in central London (Guardian University Guide 2018) You'll develop transferable analytical and communications skills making you highly desirable to employers across a range of sectors With several research centres at King's, including the Centre for Modern Literature and Culture, Queer @ King's and the London Shakespeare Centre, students work alongside cutting-edge research across a range of fields Broad list of film modules covering popular Hollywood, European and Asian film, underground and cult cinemas, documentary and new media, film and media philosophy, among many other areas.
