About this course

This course develops connections between critical study of English Literature and the creative practice of writing in a variety of forms. You will learn to approach texts as both a reader and a writer, discovering synergies between these different perspectives. You will study a broad range of English literature while developing your practical skills, confidence and independent vision as a creative writer. This course offers the chance to develop skills in critical analysis and imaginative problem solving that are relevant to a range of career paths.

Taught by experts in the field of English Literary study, alongside experienced novelists and poets, a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing from Bangor University will enable you to increase your understanding of literature, whilst also helping you to hone you own creative voice as a writer. Indeed, this degree combines the best of both worlds, introducing you to the study of historical and contemporary genres, as you yourself practice writing across a range of commercial and literary genres.

‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. You can find more information about these options on our website and if you have any questions, please get in touch.

If you don’t have the required qualifications for this degree-level course or are looking to re-enter education after time away from study, then a Foundation Year Programme might be the right choice for you. Please see English Language and English Literature (with Foundation Year) QQCF.
