About this course

The emphasis throughout the course is student centred, task orientated learning with plenty of scope for practical assignment work. Wherever possible projects, which are carried out in the second year, are to be industrially based with full involvement of industrial supervisors. This course provides a thorough grounding in all aspects of electrical and electronic engineering and combines the hardware and software subject areas demanded by the industry.

This award has the following general educational aims:

a) To develop a broad level of understanding of electrical and electronic engineering principles, mathematics and programming.b) To develop the ability to apply knowledge and skills gained to the solution of to a broad range of engineering problems.c) To develop the ability to assimilate and communicate information in a variety of ways including ICT.d) To prepare a student for the world of work or enhance their career prospects within existing employment through the development of a broad range of practical, personal and transferable skills.e) To make the student aware of responsibilities associated with health and safety, business, management, environmental and sustainability issues at a broad level.

Successful candidates will be able to perform technical duties in posts demanding a detailed understanding of electrical and electronic engineering.
