About this course

Based on the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC) and Human Rights Education, and in collaboration with a team of international researchers and experts, this course will enable you to: • Build expertise on concepts related to citizenship education, democratic culture, diversity and intercultural dialogue • Lead discussions on contemporary and controversial issues • Foster ethical discussion in the classroom • Be creative and experimental with teaching methods • Support the development of democratic culture in your professional environment

As part of your course, you’ll study: • The principles of education for democratic citizenship and human rights education • Development and practical implementation of appropriate curricula for education for democratic citizenship • Political and social dimensions of formal education • Culture, identity, diversity, pluralism and intercultural dialogue in education • Student voice, democratic engagement and participation in education • Pedagogies, teaching and assessment methods in citizenship education • Cross-curricular implementation of citizenship education
