About this course

This is a four-year programme that includes a year of foundational study and leads directly into the degree course. Our foundation year offers the chance to strengthen your skills, knowledge and confidence, before you advance to stage one of your honours degree.

Our BSc (Hons) Economics degree is designed to develop your understanding of the principles, practices, and theories of Economics. You will have access to specialist software to view and analyse real-world data, empowering you to apply theory effectively in real-life scenarios.

We are proud to be the first new university to adopt the new CORE curriculum (Curriculum Open-Access Resources in Economics). This curriculum deepens your appreciation for the application of economics to a range of problems in a variety of contexts, including social, political, and environmental issues.

You will gain valuable work experience through a compulsory Experiential Work or Volunteering Opportunities module in the second year. Past placements have included Deloitte, Hargreaves Lansdown and the NHS.

Benefit from our extensive links with industry through guest lectures by industry experts, field trips and the opportunity to study abroad.

We offer this degree with two study options. You can choose four years full-time or five years full-time which would include a one-year industry placement before your final year that will give you hands-on experience in a real-life working environment. This year in industry gives you practical skills that many employers seek, giving you a competitive edge upon graduation.
