About this course

The BSc (Hons) Economics & Finance degree allows you to combine discipline-specific skills with a thorough understanding of the economic and financial challenges that confront contemporary society. You will learn how to analyse and discuss important aspects of the subject, such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, financial markets and institutions, digital, ethical, and sustainable finance, as well as how to apply theoretical and empirical analysis to major economic and financial policy issues. Throughout the course the economic and financial issues are strongly linked and you will be exposed to a combination of qualitative and quantities skill building tools. This degree will give you a variety of cognitive and employability skills, graduate qualities, and insights into the workplace, as well as opportunities to build collaboration, leadership, organisational, presentation, and analytical abilities. We are one of the few universities in the UK offering direct use of Bloomberg data, information and analytics in a dedicated trading room trading simulations and asset management using dedicated Bloomberg terminal which provides a simulation of what it’s like to work on a real trading floor in the financial district.

You will have the opportunity to undertake a Professional Placement as an optional part of your degree. You will spend the third year of a four-year degree in a full-time, paid work placement with an employer, or you can apply to study for a Year Abroad after the successful completion of your second year.

Location

This course is run at our Canterbury Campus in Kent. Canterbury is just 50 miles south-east of London and less than an hour by high-speed train from St Pancras. Located on a UNESCO World Heritage Site the campus offers state-of-the-art buildings, right in the centre of a vibrant and world-famous cathedral city. You’ll benefit from a campus with excellent learning and teaching resources, music venues, a superb sports centre, a well-stocked bookshop and plenty of coffee bars and places to eat. A short walk away is Augustine House our award-winning library and home to a vast range of learning resources and student support teams.
