About the course

You focus on the practice of economics and policy analysis to understand growth and equality issues. By studying the principles of economics at microeconomic and macroeconomic levels, you learn how to analyse real-world issues and events.

You study behavioural economics and econometrics, building your understanding of applied statistical techniques and their application to economic questions. Then you build your expertise by choosing from a range of specialist options including data coding and visualisation, climate change economics, education economics, financial economics and development economics. You will gain important quantitative skills for policy analysis.

From psychology to law and modern languages, you take electives from other subjects to open your mind to other disciplines and tailor your degree to your interests. You can also broaden your experience further with an option to apply for studying abroad or a professional placement year. You also benefit from having an Academic Success Adviser who can help you with academic study skills including critical thinking, presenting, academic writing and note-making.

Our flexible degree means you can tailor it to your career path, whether you want to work in banking and finance, private companies, the Civil Service or international organisations.
