About this course

The purpose of Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Early Childhood Education and Care is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals, able to meet the demands of employers in early education and care and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualifications aim to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake them, including through apprenticeship routes.

The course will run in college, 1 day per week for 30 weeks.

You will need to study outside of your college time therefore you will need to develop independent learning skills. All assignments and research will be completed outside of college although you may be asked to take part in different types of assessment towards your overall grade in the classroom.

Students can develop their careers in early education and care through: • Entering employment; • Continuing existing employment; • Committing to Continuing Professional Development (CPD); • Completing a Higher Apprenticeship • Progressing to Level 5 (HND)
