About this course
In studying the BA (Hons) Drama and English degree at Lincoln, students will be encouraged to make connections between the subjects, explore key differences between them and also develop critical rigour while questioning conventional assumptions about literature, drama, and the world. Within the English element of the degree, students will have the opportunity to question identity and representation in literature in a quest to understand the pivotal role that it plays in society. The English syllabus explores a lively and varied collection of texts within their historical contexts, from Georgian literature and Romanticism to postcolonialism and postmodernism. As well as a thorough grounding in the academic elements of Drama, this joint honours degree places an emphasis on bringing together the critical study of Drama with exploratory practice and aims to put the creativity of performance at centre stage. With a wide range of optional modules that explore a variety of genres and playwrights, students have an opportunity to prepare for a range of careers in the theatre and media, both on and off stage.
