The Certificate of Higher Education (Cert HE) in Digital Production offers unique approach to getting you the skills you need to enter the digital creative industries in either Graphic Design or VFX and Media fields. The Cert HE Digital Production is the 1st year of a 3-year degree and ensures you develop a broad range of digital skills, project-based learning, enterprise skills and the ability to creatively develop concepts and use production techniques.

The unique structure of the programme is beneficial for those who want to specialise in either Visual Effects & Media Technology or Graphic Design & Content Creation as part of the 3-year degrees, providing a strong foundation and specialised skills for these fields. Graduates of this course can pursue careers in various sectors of the digital production industry, including television, radio, film, print, digital and graphic design, mobile, interactive media, podcasting, broadcast, online content creation, AR & VR. The programme equips you with the entry level skills needed to adapt to the fast-paced and evolving digital landscape, making you an asset to potential employers.

You will gain highly sought after skills in creating moving images, media graphics, visual effects, animation, motion capture during the programme and in the 2nd semester you will specialise in either VFX & Media Technology or Graphic Design & Content Creation, by choosing from elective modules. This will allow you to specialise in your chosen digital creative field, in preparation for progress to industry at an entry level or to progress to the Foundation Degrees offered in either VFX & Media Technology or Graphic Design & Content Creation in your 2nd and 3rd years.

The work-based learning (WBL) or industry focused elements of your course are integrated throughout the programme, woven into several modules and their learning outcomes. During the Cert HE Digital Production at Level 4, you will engage in project-based assignments designed to mirror real-world digital and design practices, with these experiences building in complexity as you progress through the course and onto the 2nd and 3rd year of the full degree.

WBL is further enriched by live briefs provided by industry partners. These briefs will simulate professional conditions, requiring you to meet the specific demands set by external stakeholders. Engaging with these industry-sourced projects will not only expose you to authentic work environments but also help you develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours essential for success in the digital design and media technology sector.
