There are many aspects to curating. It can be from working with collections to producing exhibitions and events. It can also be learning to research, communicating ideas to audiences, writing, and publishing. It encompasses whether you are working with or as an artist.
In this course, you will develop work guided by your interests and ambitions. You will also work alongside other practitioners exploring curating from different approaches. You will gain creative, critical, and technical skills. You will also gain practical experience in exhibition-making and event production.
Topics of study include:
exhibition formats and curatorial platforms event-based curating and public programming experimental curating collaborative approaches to curating working with media art archives and collections curating research and research exhibitions different modes of writing within curatorial practice curatorial activism artist as curator design thinking for curators project planning, marketing and fundraising working with publics installation and documentation commissioning Learning in the art school environment of DJCAD, you'll have access to a shared curatorial studio space. Also, you will also have access to workshops, library, exhibition and learning spaces.
You will benefit from learning through engagement with exhibition programmes across the University, including Cooper Gallery which is a Tate Plus organisation.

As a postgraduate student, you will share core modules with students on Fine Art MFA. You will also join the wider DJCAD community by attending open lecture series and research seminars.
