Criminology (with Foundation Year)

The foundation year offers an innovative pathway into your degree. It is the first part of a four-year degree programme. It provides an alternative route for those unable to meet the traditional entry requirements for a three-year degree. It will prepare you for your degree studies in a supportive and stimulating learning environment. You will begin with an exploration of education and society, before moving onto consider including identity, being human and the digital world. Over the course of the year, you will build the skills and experience to prepare you for your chosen degree.

BA (Hons) Criminology Studying Criminology at Birmingham Newman University presents an engaging journey into the realms of crime and the criminal justice system, allowing you to delve into the concept of crime. This programme gives you the chance to examine the criminal justice system’s role in detecting, punishing, and rehabilitating offenders, as well as considering the importance of the victims in the criminal justice process.

Graduates of the Criminology programme pursue roles within the criminal justice system, such as policing, probation services, youth justice, the prison service, revenue and customs, community development and roles within non governmental organisations that focus on crime prevention and rehabilitation.
