About this course

Criminology aims to go beyond our common-sense assumptions and explore the complex and contentious nature of crime and criminal justice. On this course students will critically explore a number of contemporary criminological topics, alongside developing wider, holistic and authentic skillsets through innovative assessment methods. A high emphasis is placed on employability, of which is designed to allow students to ‘stand out from the crowd’ and aid in the successful attainment of professional careers within the criminal justice sector post-graduation. As part of the focus of wider skillset development, students are expected to take part in crisis management and hostage negotiation assessments to reflect the qualities in which are held in high regard within the sector. In addition, students can also expect to take part in work integrated learning through taking advantage of a wide range of industry placements that we have on offer within the criminal justice sector. Our aim of this top-up programme is to produce industry ready graduates who will be the professionals of the future.
