Core Concepts in Robotic Surgery

Anglia Ruskin University

Postgraduate MSc (PG) Distance learning (part-time) 28 Months

Core Concepts in Robotic Surgery MSc (PG) is a postgraduate degree at Anglia Ruskin University, based in Cambridge, taught distance learning (part-time) over 28 months.

About this course

Explore the ways in which robotics have been integrated into surgical practice, looking specifically at gastrointestinal (upper and lower), urological and gynaecological surgery.

Delivered online, our MSc Core Concepts in Robotic Surgery starts with a core module, Principles of Robotic Surgery. You'll then be able to choose a 30-credit optional module of your choice; two of these modules focus on specific areas of surgery.

In Year 2, you'll complete the compulsory Postgraduate Research Design module. It will help you plan your Postgraduate Research Project, and to develop a robust understanding of how to interpret the research findings of others. The Research Project is an opportunity to address a particular question or gap in knowledge in your area of specialism. Year 2 also features a range of optional modules.

This course has been developed in response to a joint initiative between ARU and East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) to enhance excellence in robotic surgery across the region.

The course is not a replacement for formal surgical training, but it does offer a unique and comprehensive educational experience tailored to the needs of surgical professionals. By providing a multidisciplinary curriculum, and a focus on research and innovation, it aims to give you the knowledge to harness the potential of robotic surgery.

Based around the Institute of Excellence in Robotic Surgery (TIERS), the primary goal is to further develop expertise in robotic surgery and to drive education, innovation, and research in the field.
