About this course

Construction project managers play a vital role, in making sure that a project is procured effectively and efficiently, designed and contracted through a proper tendering process, and delivered safely, on time and within budget. This construction project management course is designed to help fulfil the demand for qualified managers. It combines the technical skills and commercial knowledge that employers value, and focuses on practical training.

What you'll study On this course, you will learn about various methods and techniques required for successful construction projects and site management. The course content is contemporary and emphasises the knowledge and skills you need for sustainable development and construction. Your studies will cover: • procurement and tendering method and process management • project and resource management • contract administration and risk management • CAD and BIM • building technology • building regulations and construction law. Regular seminars will be held during term time where we invite professionals, academics and people from professional accreditation organisations to speak. These provide opportunities not only to enhance your knowledge but also for you to make professional connections. In addition, we will arrange visits to construction sites and the manufacturers of construction materials, which can help you to see how the theories you learn in class apply in the real world. There may also be opportunities to participate in competitions held by some professional bodies. By taking part, you can gain a greater understanding of construction project management and the building industry as a whole. Our students come from many backgrounds and are used to different ways of learning. To help you make the most of your learning experience, we use a range of teaching methods, including guided research and reading, tutored classroom sessions and practical activities. CIOB accreditation This Construction Project Management course is a Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) accredited programme (subject to conditions and/or subject to standard annual monitoring), having been judged to meet the CIOB Education Framework. Prospective members holding this qualification have full academic exemption and once they have gained three to five years’ relevant work experience may enter CIOB membership as an applicant to progress towards Chartered Membership without the requirement for an Individual Assessment.
