About this course
This qualification covers a number of different aspects of the use of computing technologies, opening the door to a range of employment prospects. The course itself has been designed to address the shortage of skilled individuals within the IT community and the jobs enjoyed by our successful students include work in network management, IT support, computer security, web development and teaching (Further Education and schools).
You will spend a period of time working with an employer in business, commercial sectors and/or the voluntary sector (Work-placement) that will be assessed as part of your programme of study. You will also be encouraged to work with an external organisation for your 2nd-year group project which will benefit you by gaining experience working with a business.
FdSc graduates often choose to continue their studies by taking an additional one year course which provides a ‘top-up’ to a full Bachelor's degree, including the BSc (Hons) Applied Computing Technologies offered at the University Centre Truro and Penwith.
