About this course

Why Computer Games Programming (with placement)? Our Computer Games Programming degree prepares you to become a multi-skilled games programmer, adding functionality to incredible art and design as you create games for consoles, PC, VR and mobile. With opportunities for placements with companies such as Rockstar Games Lincoln, Microsoft and Sumo Digital, our graduates stand out from the crowd. There’s also the chance to undertake field trips to international games events such as EGX Rezzed, London Comic Con and Digital Bristol, offering a fantastic opportunity to network with industry professionals (additional costs may apply, see course web page for details).

You’ll draw on the expertise of experienced lecturers and be inspired by guest speakers from firms like Codemasters, Rebellion and Headstrong Games. You’ll also be able to showcase your work to industry-insiders at our own exhibition, COMX, and demonstrate your technical, aesthetic and project management skills to potential employers. The course benefits from affiliation with Sony PlayStation First and you‘ll have access to industry-standard software, including UDK, CRYENGINE, Unity, Adobe Creative Suite and Autodesk 3ds Max. Learning in our purpose-built facilities, you can take advantage of state-of-the-art computing suites and break-out areas for workshop sessions, with games consoles and screens in social areas. By participating in Games Jam, students can make the most of these cutting-edge tools and put their skills to the test, in a challenge to create a game in 24 hours.
