About this course

Why Computer Games Design? Our Computer Games Design degree prepares you for a successful career creating computer games for console, desktop and mobile platforms. You’ll develop design and technical skills, covering topics such as graphics, animation, game play and programming. The course benefits from TIGA-affiliation, we are a CompTIA Authorised Academy and PlayStation First member, giving us strong industry links. With opportunities for placements and briefs with organisations such as BCS (the British Computer Society), Rancon and Twistplay, our graduates stand out from the crowd. There are even chances for trips to international games events such as Eurogamer, EGX Rezzed, Comic-Con and Digital Bristol (additional costs may apply, see course web page for details). Previous students have also visited Bulgaria to help inspire and develop games design ideas.

You’ll draw on the expertise of lecturers with extensive experience, working for companies such as Codemasters, Rebellion and Sony London. You’ll be able to showcase work to employers at our exhibitions, COMX and GAMEX, and past students have gone on to work for firms like Sky, Illuma Studios and Serious Games Institute. Our students have access to state-of-the-art computing suites and break-out areas, with games consoles and screens in social areas. They take advantage of the latest software such as Adobe CC, Autodesk 3ds Max and CRYENGINE, and industry-standard hardware including Sony and Nintendo dev kits, Playstation VR, drones and motion capture.
